Welcome to my blog. A collection of works in portfolio form from my Master’s program while at Washington State University.

My name is Travis Stair and I’m a 33 year old higher education professional from a midsize town known for it’s white sand and cool, blue waters known as Sarasota, FL. For those of you who don’t know where my town is, it’s roughly an hour south of Tampa. Have you ever heard of Siesta Key? You know, the number 1 beach in America – well, that lies in my backyard.
Upon entering college I was like a handful of prospective students who did not have a clue what to do with my life. This remained true until I took my first film class. Finally! Something that captivated me sparking a dream to work within the media arts. Two short years had passed and I received my Associates in Digital Media and off I went into the professional arena making something of myself.
Shortly after entering the workforce, I realized more and more questions were coming out pertaining to media. I decided it was time to do a U-turn and make my way back towards school. This time however, I would venture towards a degree allowing me to focus on a different concentration that would pair with my previous degree and that was communications. Immersing myself into this field of study granted me the opportunity to form a true identity and I started to fall in love with the communications and all that came with it. In conjunction with this major, came a minor in sociology, which allowed me to take it a step further by diving into the sociological aspects of trends and popular culture where naturalistic and hegemonic structures grow rampant within multimedia creations.
After graduating with my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies, I entered the workforce yet again, this time at an educational institution where I lucked into the department of Academics. Ah yes, a calling! After gaining experience and exploring options I pondered for sometime and realized what I enjoy most about education is using my knowledge of communications to connect with students and assist them in reaching their full potential. I knew from this moment that I wanted to embark on a new journey and enroll into a graduate program where I can hone my skills and earn a Masters in Strategic Communications. A degree that will allow me the opportunity to grow in my career and assist employers by ensuring communication within and between the organization remains consistent through creatively crafted messaging that promotes initiatives and enhances experiences.
